"And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass; That whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Acts 2:17-21 NKJV
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He commanded His disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait until they received the Promise of the Father. He said, "... for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
The disciples then asked if He would restore the kingdom of Israel at that time, and He told them it was not for them to know the times which the Father has put in His own authority. And He said, "...you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Acts 1:4-8 NKJV
Then Jesus ascended into Heaven, and the disciples went and waited in Jerusalem as Jesus commanded them. His promise was that the Holy Spirit would come and empower them, and in the time appointed by God, it happened. The Bible says that when the Holy Spirit came upon those in the upper room, they spoke in other tongues and prophesied about the works of God. Peter, being filled with the Holy Spirit, preached to the crowd, saying to believe in Jesus, repent and be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit, because the promise was to them and to all the Lord would call, and that day 3,000 people were baptized and added to them.
God is still calling today, and His promise is to you, that when you repent of your sin and believe in Him, you also will receive the Holy Spirit, and He will empower you to be His witness, to guide you, and to move through you, to heal, set free, and proclaim His Gospel with boldness to those around you.
Pray With Me:
God, You promised that when I repent of my sin and believe in You, I can receive Your Holy Spirit. Reveal everything in my life that is keeping me from receiving what You have promised. Come, Lord, fill me up. In Jesus' name, amen.
