Love That Never Fails

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Pray this with me...

"Lord, let your words grow in my heart. Reveal your scripture to me. Amen."

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away."

-1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV

Reading this excerpt from 1 Corinthians, we can see all these attributes of worldly or unhealthy love. Some of these may resonate extra with you such as boasting or rejoicing in wrongdoing, this is also can be known as vengeance in some instances. Despite all the negative attributes, the Bible says that love is kind, patient, humble, truthful, hopeful, and enduring. These attributes are the model of love Jesus Christ displayed.

What should I take from this? Let this verse be a model for how you express the love of Christ to others. To be like Christ, we need to talk like Him. Let's try our best in our walk with Christ to display selfless and enduring love. Remember, it is called a walk because it doesn't happen overnight, one day you will learn to run for Christ.

Let's close in prayer. Pray this with me...

"Dear Jesus, thank you for the love that you have poured into me. Give me today a refreshing of your love and wrap me in your embrace. Lord, display your love to me daily, so I may display it to others. Jesus, show me how to refrain from displaying these negative attributes against others. Lord, thank you for your sacrifice, I love you forever as you have loved me. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen."
